Each semester, we ask students to choose a book to read on their own. Through these projects, we hope to foster a love of reading in our students. By empowering students to choose their own texts, we hope they are able to discover quality literature that they find exciting and engaging. These books are both classics from authors like Ernest Hemingway and Alice Walker and modern, critically-acclaimed texts from authors like Margaret Atwood and Khaled Hosseini.
These texts are selected from the Advanced Placement suggested reading list. This means students who go on to take an AP English course will have an advantage after reading texts like these to use on the essay portions of their tests!
