Understanding that all matter in the universe is made up of tiny particles called atoms is difficult. Students can not see atoms. Even now scientists can not directly observe an atom. However, atoms can be modeled many ways.
I am requesting resources to support lessons which focus on atoms and the attraction between them. The magnets simulate the attraction between particles. Students start to see that atoms stick together and stay connected eventually becoming larger structures like molecules. In a "Magic School Bus" kind of way; students can visualize solids at the atomic level and feel the chemical bonds.
