These books will enhance student knowledge on racial disparities while also creating connections with peers. A physical copy will be distributed to students in order to follow along while doing in class readings. The goal is to increase reading fluency and comprehension with practice. The journals will be used for note taking and journal entries. Mental health is a major priority with our students, especially in marginalized groups such as, students of color, socio-economically disadvantaged, and students with disabilities. During such trying times in our community, the books will take students on a journey intellectually outside their homes and an opportunity to creatively write their feelings and views what they have been reading.
