The headphones will be used for stations activities with authentic language videos or individual listening activities that students can play and replay as needed. We use dry erase markers for quick formative assessments, games, and drill activities. For authentic reading activities, students categorize what they read using highlighters.
My students love using colored pencils for visual writing assignments. For example, we did a recent assignment where they made a diagram of their daily routine using colors and Spanish words. The color coding made it possible to compare their own schedule to the schedules of other students, people in other countries, and also made it easy to see how they spend their time. Then they were able to write comparison sentences in the target language.
