Our Special Education students are working hard on independence and daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, self-care, etc.). These items, such as the a vacuum cleaner, will be used by our students to complete their classroom responsibilities and develop pre-vocational skills. The calculators will also support our students' independence as they work on budgeting, making change, and shopping in the community.
These sensory items will help the students self-regulate, explore their environment, and provide soothing movement when they are feeling overstimulated. By providing these sensory experiences in our classroom we allow students to understand their own physical needs and advocate for themselves.
