I would like to help the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams with new balls. I have watched them during practice and there are not enough basketballs for each kid that are usable. Physical Education has not had a budget for over ten years for new equipment and it shows. I recently found out about Donors Choose and was pleasantly surprised that teachers can get supplies instead of us having to use our own money. It is no wonder the PE department can only spare a few basketballs for the teams, and theirs are just as bad. The kids used to bring their basketballs, but with COVID, they cannot.
Surprising the team with new basketballs would bring pride to the teams, knowing that they have real basketballs that are not beat up from years of use. I am asking for balls that are for outside use only since the kids can no longer practice inside because COVID. They are lucky enough to have coaches at our school that care about these kids and continue to have practices. For many of these kids, it is what they look forward to the most. We cannot let them down.
