An iPad and Apple Pencil will completely transform my students' learning and my teaching. Until now, students have suffered through me using an old document camera, an outdated smartboard, and cheap stylus pens on limited-use Chromebooks. They have been patient and willing to go with the flow. They deserve better.
It has taken a lot of trial and error using different apps, awkward pauses in lessons, and conversations with other teachers during distance learning to figure out exactly what I needed to make my lessons run smoothly. This iPad and Apple Pencil will allow me to do my job better and more efficiently across all aspects of my teaching. I will be able to create video lessons that are clear and don't rely on a document camera which requires refocusing every few moments. I will be able to host live sessions with students and allow them to watch me work through a math problem giving them a virtual whiteboard that is easy to view. Most importantly, I will be able to neatly and clearly provide written feedback directly on their work. Rather than reading more typed up text (not easy when it is math) they will see my handwriting!
My students are learning from home, they deserve to have a teacher equipped with the proper technology tools to meet their needs.
