Growing up in the community that my current students live in, I have encountered how the lack of resources has a detrimental impact on student learning. As a teacher in a Title I middle school, my classroom has not had the necessary imagery, diagrams, and posters to help students identify small and large science concepts in their everyday learning, along with basic school supplies. To ensure my students receive the education and the inclusive learning environment they need, these supplies will help push their learning in science.
My students are highly motivated and resilient, multilingual learners that deserve to feel included, comfortable, and ready to learn with supplies needed for success.
These young scientists will not only have the supplies necessary for their learning, but they will also feel empowered and prepared to continuously learn and push themselves. They did not ask to be at a financially deprived school, but with your generosity and support, we can help them receive an equitable education.
