As a fourth grade teacher, one of my goals is to connect children with books they will love. Even the most reluctant, struggling readers begin to thrive when they meet the right books. Every day in our classroom, students are given time to read - not just the books we ask them to read but the books they long to read. During COVID and our operation in a hybrid model, it has been more critical than ever to offer students a variety of texts and various levels so they can enjoy books both at school and at home. To do this consistently, our outdated classroom library needs a boost of engaging texts.
By expanding our classroom library, students will have a far greater chance of developing a love of reading.
