In our classroom it would normally have desks, chairs and some wobble stools. Due to COVID, I have been flexible in what our classroom and seating looks like. We are not using desks this year so that our room can be more spacious. We are using lap trays, scoop chairs and a few wobble stools. With this being said, flexible seating furniture is more pricey. I have bought the students what I can with our classroom budget but having more options for them to explore and not only feel comfortable but confident in their learning is what we are striving for. Some children need more movement, or stability, something soft, something wobbly to help them focus better. By having some more flexible seating within our classroom I feel that the students will be more confident in themselves and knowing they have options that can help them regulate. We also included some books, you can never have enough books in the classroom and there are a few we would love to have. There are some art supplies and sensory items we have added. There are paint sticks which are amazing, they dry immediately and are fun for kiddos who do not like to get messy. I also included some kinetic sand, for some kiddos this is so soothing and can be very regulating. It also becomes a station we can use in order to do literacy or math.
