I want to continue to offer a way for my students, especially our young ladies. This year we are reaching out to our girls that are often overlooked. It seems as though students have lost hope in their education, thus we are trying to restore this hope in our club. This book study will aid us in helping the scholars to actualize their potential and to learn regardless of their situation. Right now, we have created a support group for the girls that meet weekly to help support their academics, social-emotional well-being, and personal goals. Scholars are also journaling as a method of reflection.
The text, Becoming, provides representation for the young ladies that we serve and a blueprint for success. This book study will provide an opportunity for young ladies to gather together and reflect on how they will become their best self, despite the obstacles of school and personal life. We have had academic and behavioral struggles with our young ladies, thus our girl's group is utilized as an intervention. This text will serve as an intervention for our girls to self-reflect and goal set and will be used for years to come.
