Creativity is a huge part of the Pre-K curriculum and hands-on learning opportunities give a child chances to flex their creative muscles.
In my classroom, I believe in bringing project-based learning and hands-on experiences to the students to engage them with the materials and concepts. This project will enable me to add a hands-on learning option to reinforce concepts across all of our curriculum, in addition to laying the foundation for STEAM and STEM learning.
The goal is to provide authentic learning experiences for our youngest scholars, while building high-level connections to the world around them. The light table will be incorporated in whole group, small group, and during independent center time to help expand on math, STEM, and fine motor skills, as well as fostering the natural creativity of our Pre-K Scholars. The ability to use a varied number of manipulatives and sensory materials will help students explore ideas and facilitate high-level connections for young learners. Those connections are incredibly empowering, because it shows students that they can use that new knowledge to create something - a physical embodiment of what they’ve learned that they can proudly showcase.
