These materials for a sensory motor room will allow over 30 student's who are struggling with sensory information to take a break from the often overstimulating classroom and use strategies that are calming for their body and mind in order to help them learn, grow, and participate in the school environment. The sensory motor equiptment listed can help allow students to explore and gain the individual input and movement they need so they can actively learn in the classroom.
Students with access to a sensory motor room are noticeably calmer when they return to class and often have a greater tolerance for more learning and have increased focus to tasks. As an occupational therapist I have seen first hand how impactful access to sensory motor items can be for students and how it affects their engagment with school. Having access to the variety of products listed will help allow for individual needs to be met, as each student is so wonderfully different! I hope that by increasing the variety of materials in our sensory motor room more students will be able to benefit and utilize it as the school year goes on. Any support you can provide is so greatly appreciated!
