Every year my students tell me that Read Aloud is their favorite time of day. The only thing that can make this time even better is a book in each student's hands to follow along while we read.
These books would benefit hundreds of children over the years. It is a grant that has lasting effects! The class set of books I'd like for our classroom is "Sophia's War: A Tale of the Revolution." This book is very engaging for students as the main character is a teen girl who becomes a spy for the Patriot army during the Revolutionary War. The text is complex for students so it is the perfect book to give to each student to follow along.
My goal is for my students to fall in love with reading through exciting stories we read together. Our conversations are priceless and the time spent is very impactful on their education.
