I have decided to engage students through puzzles and locks! Giving students a hands-on learning experience increases retention and student buy in. I have tested out escape rooms before and students are so engaged and love the gratification of unlocking boxes! Each problem is located inside one of the boxes that is locked, and students work together to solve the problems and unlock each box. The final clues are hidden in a special locked book that they must have the key to open.
These kids deserve an experience to remember. Every time they solve a problem correctly, they get one step closer to solving the room. I have found that when you mix math and fun, kids get excited about the work that they do. The biggest challenge I have been facing is getting kids excited to learn, but through the escape rooms I know I can do just that!
