I would like the chance to read this book to help engage my students in different diverse cultures. Students will be also be able to take a step back in time to learn more about a period in our history when they learn about the Great Depression. Having the chance to read this book will give students the opportunity to be able to see things through a different perspective. They will get the chance to explore a story about a bold, unforgettable African-American girl. This book will help make an impact in my classroom for years to come. We will take an in depth look at how the main character changes throughout the story as she goes threw many life changes. We will see the bonds that hold this family together, her toughness as she struggles with these life changes and be able to see her as she grows in this journey.

About my class
