Each week, I choose a different theme to keep speech engaging and educational. Some of the themes I have chosen in the past include: Dinosaurs, Insects, Fire Prevention, and Martin Luther King Jr. My students love that they get to learn something new every week, and I love that we are correcting speech and language as we are learning about the world around us.
I like to be able to send things home for the kids to share with their parents and receive additional support from home. Studies have shown that when children have carryover and help at home, classroom performance (in my case, speech and language skills) increases.
