As with many students, mine have really had a hard time this year living in pandemicland where the "rules are made up and the points don't matter", and finding little rays of sunshine and happiness has been one of my main priorities this year. Social-emotional and mental health, plus self-care, are HUGE topics and focuses for many teachers and students, so doing what I can to help in those areas is so very important.
This project will help me build my collection of graphic novels, books which my students really enjoy, so that I can do my part to bring them some happiness and excitement. Every time I showcase new books in my live Meet for class, students, even those at home, get so excited to see what new goodies will be joining our classroom library.
My classroom library is easily the biggest at my school, and I loan out books to students across classrooms and grade levels. If I can spread some book love and excitement to students, then I'm doing my part as a teacher and leader at my school.
