The idea of a Garden Club came to us after brainstorming ways that students can work on hands-on projects and socialize while also being socially distanced and outdoors! Students are craving some normalcy and I think this is the perfect way to get students involved in a project that will create new hobbies as well as being able to spend quality time with other classmates. We really believe that this Garden Club will improve the mental health of all of our members and will also create lasting memories and friendships! With your help, every dollar you donate will go towards the materials listed under the 鈥渨here your donation goes鈥 section. Some of these materials include a greenhouse, raised beds, gardening tools, seeds, soil, etc. these are the basics for getting our garden started!
Since we do not yet have any materials, our garden club meetings have consisted of finding a fenced-in location at school for our garden and possibly a greenhouse, planning out the rest of the school year, and recruiting volunteers for the summer. We have also been learning about hydroponic gardens (we have a mini one that was donated to us!) and learning about the life cycle of plants and vegetables.
Once we have our materials, we will take everything we鈥檝e learned in the classroom into action!
