I teach special education resource classes for high school English. Of the different types of mild to moderate disabilities found in my classes, the most prevalent are specific learning disabilities and hyperactivity issues. A variety of modalities including physical engagement help them to focus on the tasks at hand that are challenging for them, particularly with writing.
I have long wished I had an appropriate standing desk area for students to have as an option in their workspace. Now that we're back in the classroom, I also want to show them that workspaces can be different from just the 'typical' student desk, so that they feel empowered to set up spaces that are comfortable and work for them.
