The overall goal of this project is to create a flexible and engaging classroom for all learning styles. The project contains several different items that will be used to create flexible seating and give the students several objects to allow fidgeting.
Flexible seating combines comfort, freedom of choice, focus, and movement into the classroom environment allowing students to take some additional control of their learning. The balance ball seats, the stability discs, and the rug will allow the students to have different types of seating around the classroom. Those three objects will allow students to choose a type of seating that will help them improve their concentration during class.
The fidget toys, the chair bands, and the expandable sphere in addition to the balance ball seats, and the stability discs will allow the students to do a variety of fidgeting. The chair bands, the balance ball seats, the stability discs will create quiet access to fidgeting while instruction is occurring so that the students are able to stay actively engaged in their education. The fidget toys and expandable sphere will be used during moments in the classroom where the students are facing challenges and need time to cool down. Many times when a student becomes frustrated or overwhelmed they just need time and something to focus on outside of what might have made them upset.
I truly look forward to transitioning into another school year with new students in a flexible and engaging classroom.
