These books will continue the necessary, yet challenging discussions around diversity with my readers.
As a lifelong learner and reader myself, a recent book club opened my eyes to the necessary growth in my classroom library--with a specific focus on diversity of ALL, for ALL.
As I've started the journey to engage my middle grade readers into diverse books such as: Clean Getaway, Genesis Begins Again, Amal Unbound, Land of Cranes--as well as beautifully crafted picture books such as: Eyes the Kiss the Corners, The Undefeated, and The Proudest Blue--the thirst for more and more books that stretch and grow their thoughts around diversity is undeniable. My students are begging for more diverse books, and I want nothing more than the ability to continue this growth with them by supporting a more diverse classroom library. With additional titles, together, we can provide a safe place for challenging discussions--a safe place to grow a more diverse perspective for the future.
