Using oversized books in the elementary library builds connections with students by sharing quality literature and learning activities while staying safe in a face-to-face but socially distanced learning environment. In order to nurture my students’ love for reading and books while continuing to stay safe, I have focused on creating storytime activities that will use big books to promote interaction, comfort, and connection.
It is my hope to utilize oversized books to assure that each of my students feels connected to their classmates, teacher, and learning activity at hand while nurturing their love of books and reading in a safe, comforting, and connected learning environment.
