My students have had to do the majority of their reading online. Although some of my students will be learning online and some in the classroom, I want ALL of my students to have the same book in their hands so they can enjoy the story at their own pace.
We focus on a specific reading skill for each chapter, including character traits, cause and effect, problem and solution, figurative language, and comparing/contrasting. The BFG is the perfect novel to end the academic year because we are able to review all of the reading skills we built throughout third grade.
Because of COVID safety procedures, we are not able to share supplies, including books. I would love to give each student in my class their own copy of The BFG to read and keep when we are done. Reading is so much more effective when one has the material right in front of them as opposed to looking at the text on a projector or simply listening to the story.
Please help my students travel to Giant Country with Sophie and The BFG by donating to our cause. Thank you!
