This year I would like to introduce drumming to my students as a part of my basic reading skills class. Students will use drumming at the start of class to release their stress and anxiety. This will allow for the natural rhythm of the drumming and music to calm their brain states. At the start of each class students have built in time for warm up activities. I will incorporate the drumming into the daily warm up for students who make the choice to drum. Adding drumming to my classroom practice will continue to allow my students to show growth academically and emotionally.
