The books I have chosen will be used in my elementary school Language art classes to capture the kids' attention with topics they can relate to food. I will use examples include learning to work toward goals, make choices for well being (healthy eating, avoiding tobacco products, drugs or alcohol) and social emotional learning topics.
These are very important topics for elementary school students who have been sequestered at home for 17 months. Their bodies have grown but they maintain many of them have bad eating habits and mindsets. Helping prepare these kids for the possible choices and scenarios they will encounter in middle school is so important right now.
