Second grade students are energetic and struggle to sit still during the long school day. This struggle is more apparent in students who may struggle with learning in a typical classroom. A few years ago, I purchased a few wobble stools for my students. These stools allow for students to gently wiggle and move while they are listening and working in class. As a result, I noticed less fidgeting, more concentration, and better work from my students while they were using wobble stools.
This success in the classroom created a more positive classroom environment as well as an increase in students believing in their own abilities.
These outcomes are something all students should have the chance to experience. Over the last couple of years, we have had to share the few stools that I have in my classroom. I would like to provide this seating option to more of my students to allow everyone to experience the best learning environment that will bring out the best in their abilities.
