I am a first year teacher who is also teaching during a world wide pandemic. The teacher who's position I took retired after 30 years in the classroom. Many of the supplies and furniture left to me is 20 years old. I have been able to refurnish most of my room but there are some main pieces still missing. My students are extremely interested in books and dramatic play, however my books are in plastic tubs on the floor because I was not given a bookshelf and there is no dramatic play area in this room. We have the materials for a play kitchen, but no actual kitchen to pretend to cook in. My students have very little sense of normal this and if I could give them this gift of play and organized books it would bring me and them joy.
