This is to help build my classroom library for my incoming students and all of my other students following them. I unfortunately have very limited books in my library currently since I am only a 2nd year teacher. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. These books are based on what their interests are at this grade level and they are also based on what their independent reading levels are. Students will be able to choose books to read in my classroom that they can checkout, take home, and return when they are finished. This will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time and build a love for reading outside of school as well. With these books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own levels. They will also be able to choose books that reflect their diverse interests rather than being assigned a book to read that they may not even have a connection to. The best way to increase reading comprehension and skills is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading to help them work towards and meet their academic goals.
