Currently my school has 1,912 students enrolled in the 2020-2021 school year. For this same school year there are 12 laptops carts consisting of 32 Chromebooks each (384 Chromebooks), 5 sets of 5 Samsung Galaxy tablets (30 total), and 5 computer labs with 35 desktops (175 total) for the whole school to share using a reservation system.
This means that for 1,912 students there are only 589 devices, putting us at 3.2 students per device in the school.
This also does not take into account blocks of time that all computers are allotted to another department such as ACCESS testing or EOG testing. After spring break (4/12) until Milestones (5/5) all devices are being reformatted and not available for student classroom use.
Having reliable, consistent access to these devices would be a dramatic improvement.
