I was recently granted an empty classroom to build an individualized life skills classroom for our students who have a variety of disabilities at the high school level. These academic materials, storage containers, and furniture will all be used to set up this new classroom right across the hall from their academic classrooms.
This classroom will include several stations, including: hygiene/health, household living, job exploration and practice, social skills, money skills, and safety awareness at home and in the community.
With these stations, my students will be able to learn and practice these essential skills that don't come as easily to them as they do to the rest of the world. Being in such a large district in the middle of Chicago, it makes it very difficult to receive enough funding to get all of the materials we need on a regular basis. Thank you in advance for your kind and generous support to help our students with advanced needs be successful in school and in life!
