If my middle school students are able to keep track of how much they move, they will make it a friendly competition and always try to outwork each classmate. Seeing the joy and competitive nature from each student will give them the self motivation to move more than ever in each physical education period they come to.
It has shown that even in adults, we want to see how much we move. Imagine having that ability as a middle school student with their energy, the movement count might be through the roof. Being able to keep track of the steps and movement will also allow me to see who is giving it their all, and show me who I need to help motivate a little bit more.
