In my Reading/ ELA classroom, students utilize technology most of the school day. Additionally, they are discouraged from sharing items, yet many lack the basic resources for school. Your contribution will allow a few more students to participate in all aspects of the instructional day, thus improving academic outcomes for my students. Students will utilize the individualized reading programs proven to increase reading abilities.
Reading skills matter. So much so that, its commonly believed that students not reading proficiently by the end of third grade will later end up incarcerated. Technology has engaged students like never before. Therefore, I infuse reading in technology games that students can't wait to participate in, enabling them to get the most of their reading lessons. I will use the iPads to allow students to engage in several learning platforms that build fluency such as IXL, i-Ready, Readworks.org, and GetEpic. Doing so brings a virtual library into the classroom. Students will utilize the individualized reading programs proven to increase reading abilities.
I'm sure you would agree that student involvement clearly improves student's outcomes. Let's go that extra mile to ensure that "No child is left behind".
