The use of different dramatic play centers will allow my students to experience real life situations. Play is essential for their development because children learn best when they are hands-on, interacting with each other while taking different roles. It allows children to explore their own thoughts and feeling "without being observed".
Some of the Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines the Farm Dramatic Play center will cover are:
I.B.2.a. Child begins to understand difference and connection between emotions/feelings and behaviors.
I.C.4. Child increasingly interacts and communicates with peers to initiate pretend play scenarios that share a common plan and goal.
II.D.5. Child increases listening vocabulary and begins to develop vocabulary of
object names and common phrases.
VI.B.1. Child observes, investigates, describes and discusses the characteristics of organisms.
