It's that time of year when I begin to think about having to say "goodbye" to my kiddos as I send them off to Kindergarten and beyond. Every year the heartbreak of watching my little ones leave my classroom for the last time gets to me. I am so proud of all they have accomplished and how hard they have worked; this academic year hasn't been an easy one for four and five-year-old kiddos to navigate.
It is my dream to send my students off to Kindergarten with a book I love and a special hand-written note inside.
I will explain to parents that they may hand this book off to their child's teacher at the end of each year and ask for them to write a note of encouragement inside. The love for learning must start young and I hope that by doing this small thing for my students it will snowball into hundreds, if not thousands of words of encouragement for each child throughout their academic careers. My hope is that this book will provide each child with a precious gift at their high school graduation that will affirm them in their efforts and hard work to get to that point. If we can get these kiddos to love education and have positive relationships with their educators, just think what it could do for their future children! Your donation to this project will surely impact many. Thank you so much for thinking of my Head Start kiddos!
