My Project is building a sensory room. The materials in my project will be used to help our Autistic students express themselves in a safe space. Many of our students with autism have sensory issues. With this projects we want our students to gain access to appropriate sensory stimulation, and enhance their learning through Occupational Therapy. Through research we have learned that time in a sensory room helps children improve their visual, auditory and tactile processing, along with their fine and gross motor skills. It is our goal to have our students learn to self-regulate their behaviors and improve their focus.
