I am in a new classroom this year. I was given some older classic books, but I wanted to get books that would appeal to different types of readers. Graphic novels and popular right now and my students enjoy them. I also wanted to build up my non-fiction part of the library with science picture books. Multiplication is a key skill that students must master in third grade. A colleague told me about the Math Wrap-ups and how they motivated her students to learn the times table. This is something that students will be able to take home for practice. We live in one of the rainiest parts of the US, so the students spend a lot of time inside before class and during recess. The STEM toys will allow students to use their creativity to build and problem solve. They can also jump rope or draw with chalk on the covered sidewalk.
