Children need opportunities to explore, create, and problem solve! In today's world, our children are often the consumers of someone else's creativity! As a teacher, I am trying to encourage my students to be their own makers!
Creating music, making up a new dance move, building with blocks, designing jewelry, and experimenting with a new recipe are all ways they can become makers! This year I have been using a virtual makerspace, due to the pandemic created limitations of the school year, where my students have had the opportunities to create on the computer. Next year, we have promised our students that we are going to have a REAL makerspace for them to use! They are so beyond excited, and I am so eager to bring them this hands-on STEAM experience!
