Not every brain can learn when the body is sitting still in a desk. Not every body is able to sit still in a desk for extended periods of time. Giving students the opportunity to engage in whole body learning through flexible seating provides them the freedom to stretch out, fidget and move, work collaboratively, and stay focused on the academic workload that the confines of a desk does not allow.
Our bodies were not made to be sedentary, especially not at 10 years old. So why not move while we learn? Students learn best when given as many modalities as possible. Visual learning, auditory learning, and hands-on learning are all improved by pairing them with kinesthetic learning. With flexible seating, students can bounce on a ball, kneel at a low table, stand at a tall table, and activate more of their brain by engaging more of their body.
