I have recently been trained in a research based program called LETRS. The program has taught me to have students use letter sets to practice hearing and building the phonemes (sounds) in words. I currently don't have letter sets for students to use. Capital and lower case vowels and consonant letters will be used to build words, which is one of the necessary steps in learning to read. Manipulating the sounds in words and then reading books that give the opportunity to transfer the skill to reading text is the goal.
