My students will be starting to learn about persuasive opinion writing this coming week. I have selected a topic that receives high levels of student engagement. Students will be answering the question: Should People Eat Bugs? They will state their opinions, give me reasons to support their opinion, and use facts to back up those reasons.
Students will be using these insects as a tool to progress their learning. They will be able to try these insects and use their own experience of eating insects to help guide, and add to their writing. Not only will this help develop their knowledge of eating insects, it will create a fun atmosphere for learning. It will encourage students to try new things, be open to different ideas, and gain new knowledge that isn't common practice.
