When you were in middle school, did you learn about what it's like to really DO science? For most of my students, they did not. Many of my students never had a science teacher in middle school, and others were taught early on that they don't belong in science. My 9th graders deserve a chance to use careful measurements and units to study the world around them and communicate their ideas. In 9th grade this year, my students will put on their scientist hats and learn how important measurement is in doing science.
