Students are more motivated to complete their work with they feel like they have a voice. Allowing students to the choice of where they sit every day, gives them a voice in my classroom. Something as small as allowing them to choose where they sit will really make a difference in their eyes. It gives them a sense of power.
Students need to feel comfortable in their learning environment. Students do not want to walk into a classroom that looks just like every other classroom they've ever seen, they want to walk in their new classroom and BE EXCITED about learning!
