The COVID-19 pandemic has everyone seeing the world differently. For little ones, it's not that simple. Every day teachers get asked questions like "Can we go the the playground?', "Why can't we play together?", " How am I supposed to play with my friends if we can't touch?". Shortly behind those questions comes the statement that no teacher wants to hear, "Recess isn't fun anymore".
Though Covid has flipped everything upside down, I am on a mission to help the scholars at KVP feel and see that school can still be fun and something they look forward to daily. Our school is big on love but not as large on space. This means that outdoor recess locations are limited. We have to share, more than than we did before the pandemic.
On days when scholars can't get outside, I'd like to provide them with a plethora of activities that makes them feel like they never missed playing outside that day. For example, scholars will be able to use the play do to practice making 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional shapes and they will be able to use the Magna-Shapes to build structures that live inside and outside of their imaginations. Help me bring the fun of outdoor recess inside.
