We are one of the only schools in our county/area that doesn't have a live broadcasting studio/set-up for the student journalism program/school. Since it isn't something that is connected to state-testing, the journalism class runs with whatever free digital resources we can muster. Social media has been great with getting student articles and sports information out in a timely manner. Before the pandemic, we created and produced four printed issues of the student newspaper, using Microsoft Publisher to layout articles.
As advisor, I would like to take our students to the next level of journalism by giving them the experience of speaking to their faculty/peers and building confidence, using technology that will provide them skills for their future careers and endeavors. Using the district's YouTube channel, students will be able to video and record important information and announcements that will be streamed during homeroom, class, lunch, end of the day, etc.
