First grade is a pivotal year in the development of a reader. Students learn the skills that are the foundation for their lives as not only readers, but critical thinkers. Success in reading is a key predictor in all facets of academic and life-long success. Building a diverse classroom library and print-rich environment will allow my students to see themselves in books, find success in books, and discover the world in books all while growing skills and developing a love for reading. These books will travel between home and school and unlock the world of words for my students and their families.

About my class
