My kids come from various socio-economic backgrounds. Our school is a large rural school. Our school is 40% free and reduced lunches. They are energetic and love coming to school. Many of these kids don't have parents that will read to them at home due to time restrictions or lack of materials. It is important for kids to listen to fluent readers in order to build their fluency. The headphones will allow me to keep using the books and tapes I have. The lotto game will give the kids another option for listening center work so they can continue to improve their reading skills.
