As children develop they are expected to perform some basic functions. Developmental delays occur if the child lags behind in certain areas that he/she is expected to cover by that age. This delay in the development process can be major or minor. The child may lack in gross or fine motor skills, language skills, or social skills. These materials will enable students learning, helping them to reach their individual goals, and overcoming any obstacles or challenges in their daily lives inside/outside of the classroom.
As a teacher having a colored printer enables Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an approach to teaching aimed at meeting the needs of every student in a classroom. It is helpful for all students, including students with learning and attention delays. UDL classroom, materials are accessible for all types of learners. Students have many options for reading, including print, digital, text-to-speech and audiobooks. For printing text, there are also options for text enlargement, along with choices for color and contrast to print books. With a colored printer I can create visual aids, which will facilitate creative and critical thinking and differentiate materials. Differentiating materials will allow students to access sentence starters, graphic organizers, and personal copies of worksheets.
