Every day our class has a special time when we learn and enjoy participating in storytime using read alouds and illustrations. As the children grow and learn, they are expected to remember the stories' characters, events, and details of the story that are foundational elements to early literacy. Due to special challenges, most of my students have articulation, phonological, and expressive language delays so the importance of remembering what they are learning while engaged in practicing their expressive language skills is a must-do! I have discovered that the use of figurines, pictures, and puppets encourages student participation. I am certain that these items will enhance our learning inventory and naturally engage our students to increased language and literacy participation!
