Most if not all of my students are economically disadvantaged. They lack knowledge of the outside world and have no resources to purchase supplies that we use in class daily. Simple things like the requested crayons, glue, scissors, colored paper and pencils bring a smile to their face. All these supplies are used to create interactive notebooks for Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies. Interactive notebooks can help students process information, study and review for assessments and personalize the content being presented. They also allow for teacher differentiation to reach a range of student's abilities and learning styles.
The books I am requesting can take my students into a unique world of imagination. They enrich the experiences of students and sharpen their intellect. Let's not forget that books are fun. They allow my children to escape from the everyday stress they have at home and give them peace of mind and pleasure.
